Wildlife Area – A Good Start

On Saturday 9th June, plotholders came together to start our work on revitalising the wildlife area.

15 people volunteered, clearing years of growth, digging beds and planting shrubs, perennials and wildflowers.

Chairman Daniel Barrington said “It was such a great day, people coming together and getting stuck in. You can already see a big difference and I’d like to thank everyone who came along. We’ll be doing this on a regular basis. The site has so much potential and we really want to see it as a haven for wildlife, which benefits us all.”

The wildlife area was originally created in 2008, with fruit trees, wildflowers and a pond. Over the years it’s become neglected.

Future plans include creating more beds, clearing the pond, planting more shrubs, perennials, wildflowers and creating a seating area.

Our next day of work will take place on Saturday 23rd June from 11am, bring a spade and a wheelbarrow! We’ll have refreshments and snacks.
